Energy Liability is backed by an international panel of insurers and reinsurers.

The account consists of risks associated with the oil and gas energy industry including upstream, midstream and downstream, both on and offshore. At this time, the account is for US domiciled clients, including international subsidiary exposures.

Averaging over 20 years’ experience in this specialty area, the underwriting team is supported by a Claims leader with 25+ years’ experience in this class. Over this time the team has developed long standing and strong personal relationships with clients and the US retail and London wholesale broker communities. This allows for a very effective distribution model.

Inga Brand

Underwriter

Inga has 20 years’ experience writing US Energy Liability business. Most recently she held the position of Head of Energy, Construction and Marine Liability at Liberty Specialty Markets. Inga joined Liberty in 2014 as a Senior Underwriter before being promoted in 2019. Prior to this Inga spent 10 years at Aspen Insurance underwriting Energy, Construction and Marine Liability business. Inga’s insurance career started in 2001 at Syndicate 1861 where she worked on the Marine and Energy Liability account.

Gareth Rees

Underwriter

Gareth has 25 years’ experience writing US Energy Liability business. Most recently Gareth held the position of Head of Marine, London at Aspen Insurance and was responsible for the Marine and Energy Liability account as well as oversight of the Hull, Cargo and Specie portfolios. Gareth joined Aspen in 2004 as a Senior Underwriter in Marine and Energy Liability before becoming Head of Marine and Energy Liability in 2014 and Head of Marine, London in 2018. Before Aspen, Gareth worked on the Marine and Energy Liability account at BRM 1861 Syndicate and prior to that with Commercial Union where he began his career in 1996.
